Riesenschnauzeren er en stor, solid og rubust udgave af Schnauzeren. Det er en dejlig hund for den aktive familie, dog er det ikke nogen f\u00f8rstegangs hund. Det er en brugshund, men ogs\u00e5 en dejlig familiehund. Intelligent, arbejdsvillig og l\u00e6renem. Skal opdrages meget konsekvent, men absolut ikke h\u00e5rdh\u00e6ndet. Is\u00e6r skal unoder stoppes, inden de n\u00e5r at udvikle sig til d\u00e5rlige vaner. Racen er meget alsidig og velegnet til alle tjenestehundeopgaver. Pels og pleje:<\/span><\/p>\n Pelsen best\u00e5r af en t\u00e6t underuld og en ikke for kort d\u00e6kpels, som er ru, h\u00e5rd og t\u00e6t tilliggende uden at v\u00e6re pjusket eller b\u00f8lget. Hunden skal b\u00f8rstes j\u00e6vnligt og helst have friseret \u00f8jenbryn og sk\u00e6g dagligt. Pelsen trimmes to til fire gange om \u00e5ret og den f\u00e6lder ikke.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Temperament:<\/p>\n Vagtsom og modig, men samtidig ligev\u00e6gtig. En vagtsom beskytter af alt, hvad der er den betroet. Generelt t\u00e5lmodig og overb\u00e6rende over for b\u00f8rn. Mindre tolerant over for andre hunde, specielt kan hanhundene v\u00e6re noget stridbare i forholdet til hinanden. Som sagt menes Schnauzeren at v\u00e6re baggrunden for den store variant s\u00e5vel som for den lille. Riesenschnauzeren er antagelig skabt p\u00e5 basis af s\u00e6rlig store individer, som blev parret med sydtyske bondehunde med blandet baggrund samt med sort grand danois. Den var f\u00f8rst slagternes kv\u00e6gdriver, senere blev den vagthund for andre transporter. Den havde ikke nogen pr\u00e6cis arbejdsopgave, og racen var l\u00e6nge om at blive etableret og anerkendt. Det skete f\u00f8rst i 1923, da politi og milit\u00e6r fik \u00f8je for den. I dag bruges den som politihund i blandt andet Tyskland og Spanien.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h5>\n

En kraftfuld og robust race, som kr\u00e6ver rigeligt med motion og mange opgaver, som kan stimulere hunden mentalt. Desuden beh\u00f8ver den et godt socialt liv med t\u00e6t kontakt til mennesker. Den er
<\/span>aktiv og glad for at bev\u00e6ge sig frit. Ikke rastl\u00f8s, snarere besindig. Som voksen er den ret rolig, n\u00e5r man tager racens baggrund og st\u00f8rrelse i betragtning. Ikke altid lige villig til at f\u00f8lge ejerens anvisninger, men holder dog relativt n\u00e6r kontakt.<\/p>\n<\/h5>\n
