Ordet pinscher kan enten stamme fra det engelske ord \u201dpinch\u201d, som betyder at nappe, eller det franske ord \u201dpincer\u201d, som betyder at bide af. Begge muligheder hentyder til racens fortid som rottehund. Den tyske pinscher er gammel, og den har samme baggrund som schnauzeren, der ogs\u00e5 blev kaldt ruh\u00e5ret pinscher. Oprindelig f\u00f8dtes begge h\u00e5rlagsvarianter i samme kuld. Opdelingen i to selvst\u00e6ndige racer skete i slutningen af 1800-tallet. I 1960’erne var pinscheren ved at udd\u00f8, men blev reddet.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Den tyske pinscher er intelligent, selvst\u00e6ndig og meget l\u00e6renem. Den vil ikke tvinges, men kr\u00e6ver alligevel en konsekvent opdragelse. Man n\u00e5r l\u00e6ngst med samarbejde frem for konfrontation. Undg\u00e5 at terpe og gentage \u00f8velserne, men tr\u00e6n varieret med god motivation. Den korte og t\u00e6tte pels er glansfuld og glat tilliggende. Den kr\u00e6ver kun ubetydelig pleje som fx en daglig aft\u00f8rring med et fugtigt vaskeskind for at fjerne l\u00f8se h\u00e5r.<\/span><\/p>\n Livlig, selvsikker og ligev\u00e6gtig er tilsammen egenskaber, som g\u00f8r racen b\u00e5de til en fortrinlig selskabshund i en aktiv familie og til en alsidig vagt- og sportshund. Den er en overraskende sammensat natur. Den kan skiftevis v\u00e6re k\u00e6rlig og f\u00f8lsom eller sej og noget selvbestemmende.
